In Fon, a language spoken in Benin, the word “Ahosi” means women of the king. It was the title given to the legendary female warriors of the Dahomey Kingdom — an all-women military regiment known to history as the Amazons. Strategists, protectors, and symbols of courage, these women inspired the Ahosi earrings — a bold, symbolic piece designed as a modern-day talisman to be worn with pride.
Made from recycled red leather and featuring a vibrant insert of wax fabric, the Ahosi earrings combine history, identity, and contemporary design. They embody inner strength, resilient beauty, and the kind of gentle power that holds its ground.

The Ahosi silhouette is rounded, stable, and sculptural — evoking presence, power, and balance. The smaller top circle represents the mind, the spirit; while the larger circle below symbolizes the body, strength, and movement. Each pair is produced in limited quantities, and no two inserts are exactly alike — the wax pattern varies based on offcuts used in other creations. Handmade, local and eco-conscious
Each Ahosi earring is handcrafted in our Montréal studio, following a low-waste, sustainable process. The red leather base is cut from reclaimed leather scraps, while the wax insert comes from small leftover pieces of fabric used in accessory making. Nothing is wasted — every fragment is treated as a creative opportunity.
The earrings are set on hypoallergenic stainless steel posts, safe for sensitive ears. Thanks to the lightweight nature of the materials, Ahosi is comfortable to wear all day, without pulling or heaviness.
