Our practices, openly
At Coo-Mon Accessoires et Cultures, we believe a business can combine creativity, responsibility, and positive impact. This page outlines the practices that guide our environmental, social, and ethical choices—at the heart of our commitment to B Corp certification.
Responsible practices
We design and create accessories and textile items through an artisanal, local, and environmentally conscious approach. Our products are made on a small scale, using sewing machines and simple tools. Small amounts of water are used to prewash certain fabrics, without any chemical dyes or synthetic additives. We occasionally experiment with natural methods, such as plant-based dyeing, as part of our ongoing commitment to creativity and sustainability.
On the social side, our employment model is based on collaboration with independent professionals according to project needs. This flexible structure helps us support a local, inclusive, and equitable economy while maintaining the artisanal quality of our creations. Each collaboration is an opportunity for sharing, respect, and the celebration of cultural craftsmanship.
Fair and flexible collaboration
We work with independent professionals in a transparent and respectful framework. Each collaboration is governed by a written agreement that specifies working conditions and compensation. Collaborators are free to accept or decline proposed projects and may pursue other activities in parallel. This flexible model supports a local and inclusive economy while preserving the quality and creativity that define our products.
Responsible water management
Our operations require small amounts of water, primarily for prewashing certain fabrics. We make sure to use water responsibly: each wash is done in small batches, by hand or with domestic equipment, without chemical additives or polluting discharges. Our operations are located in a low water-stress area, according to data from the World Resources Institute (WRI Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas). We remain attentive to minimizing consumption and regularly review our practices to preserve this essential resource.
Energy and emissions management
Our production relies on small-scale, artisanal processes that naturally limit our energy consumption and emissions. We primarily use electricity from Hydro-Québec’s network, which is largely powered by renewable sources. We optimize the use of our equipment, promote repair and durability, and continue to explore ways to further reduce our energy footprint in a spirit of continuous improvement.
