In Fon, a language spoken in Benin, NaN means women of the king. It was the title given to queens and influential women of the royal court of Abomey — discreet yet powerful figures who held deep authority. The NaN model honours this strength: a grounded, dignified femininity, expressed through calm presence rather than volume.

Part of the ReNée Collection, NaN celebrates conscious material transformation and invisible heritage. Each pair is crafted in limited quantities, following a local, human-scale, artisanal approach.

A refined and symbolic silhouette

NaN features a sharp square base, representing stability and structure, topped with a rounded form that evokes a stylized head or a point of balance. This clean geometry gives the earring a totemic silhouette — upright, steady, and quietly empowered.

At the centre of the square, a small window reveals a vibrant piece of wax print fabric in shades of blue, black, and white. The fabric is sourced from reclaimed offcuts used in our accessory-making process. Each batch offers slight variations in pattern, making every pair visually consistent yet individually unique.

The deep blue leather contrasted with the graphic energy of the wax print gives this piece its modern, expressive personality, while keeping it elegant and minimal.

Handcrafted, local, and sustainably made

The NaN Blue earrings are entirely handmade in our Montréal studio, using recycled leather and leftover wax fabric. Every step — from cutting to assembly — is done with care, following a low-waste, ethical approach that honours the value of every material.

Each earring is mounted on a hypoallergenic stainless steel post, making it suitable for sensitive ears. Lightweight and soft, the leather ensures comfortable, all-day wear without compromising style.
